MHS SLC Mission

To enable students of all ability levels to make valuable contributions to the environment and the community while pursuing scientific inquiry and engineering design. MHS SLC works to create opportunities for students to work with professional scientists, engineers, and conservationists to develop critical thinkers who are college, career, and community ready by providing hands-on, project-based programs that enrich the classroom experience.

SLC Coordinators

  • Mr. John Sandvig - Science Fair Lead

  • Mr. Tyson Kikugawa - FIRST Robotics Advisor

What we do

Our focus is to provide students with opportunities to expand their STEM experiences beyond the traditional classroom and prepare them for a successful post-high school path in STEM. Our main programs include the FIRST Robotics team, the Science Club, and supporting Science Fair/STEM Capstone projects. We also coordinate the school level science fair, which MHS students can participate in to present their projects, with the top projects moving up to the district, state, and/or international science fairs.
